Captain Tony Lara, who headed The Cornelia Marie after the passing of Phil Harris, died in Sturgis, S.D. early Saturday morning in a private residence, according to Meade County Sheriff Ron Merwin, who spoke with the Associated Press.
The 50-year-old was attending the annual motorcycle rally there. His autopsy results are not available yet.

Lara left Deadliest Catch when Captain Casey McManus came aboard.
On Sunday McManus tweeted about the loss, sharing, he was "still in shock" from the news.
"#RIP my friend[.] You had a heart of gold," McManus added.
The Deadliest Catch Twitter and Facebook accounts also mourned the loss of Lara.
On the Deadliest Catch Facebook, it was mentioned that Lara's Catch family knows that he is "up in heaven watching over" all of them.
On The Cornelia Marie's Facebook account, Lara was regarded "as a generous, talented, smart and caring man."
The Facebook account reminisced on when Lara was captain, mentioning, he kept the ship "going" after the loss of Harris.
He even shared "his years of knowledge and experience to all of us on the crew."
Then when McManus came onboard Lara "came and gave a thorough walk through of the entire boat."
According to The Cornelia Marie Facebook, Lara even visited with the crew a few months ago.
Deadliest Catch airs on the Discovery Channel on Tuesdays at 9 p.m. ET.
