'American Horror Story: Hotel' News: Mare Winningham Returning For Season 5 As Laundress, Working With Evan Peters
Mare Winningham is set to check into the American Horror Story: Hotel this fall.
Winningham will be playing the laundress of the Cortez Hotel, according to a new Entertainment Weekly report. Her character will be working predominantly with Mr. March (Evan Peters).
The 56-year-old actress previously had roles in American Horror Story: Coven and Freak Show. In Coven, she played Kyle's (Peters) "white trash" mother Alicia who insisted on having an incestuous relationship with him. Then in Freak Show, Winningham played Rita, the sister of Pepper (Naomi Grossman) who wrongfully sent Pepper to the Briarcliff asylum.
How Finn Wittrock's New 'American Horror Story' Character Is Actually Similar To Dandy
So Winningham has clearly played bad women before on American Horror Story. Will she be just as evil in Hotel? Only time will tell.
Winningham joins an ever-expanding cast for the upcoming fifth season of the horror anthology series. Several actors from previous seasons are set to return for Hotel, including Peters, Sarah Paulson, Kathy Bates, Angela Bassett, Denis O'Hare, Finn Wittrock, Matt Bomer, Wes Bentley, Chloë Sevigny, Emma Roberts and Lily Rabe. Actors joining the show for the first time include Lady Gaga, Cheyenne Jackson, Max Greenfield and Naomi Campbell.
The new season will take place in Los Angeles. It is currently in production in Los Angeles as well, for the first time since Asylum.
American Horror Story: Hotel is set to premiere Wednesday, Oct. 7 at 10 p.m. ET/PT on FX.
