Sarah Paulson is still hoping to become Lady Gaga's new best friend on the set of FX's American Horror Story.

Paulson recently spoke with Deadline about Gaga, her new American Horror Story co-star. While she is a huge fan of Gaga, she hasn't been able to work with her onscreen yet.

"Well, I haven't worked with her yet. So so far I have not made much movement on that plan," Paulson said, of her plan to befriend the pop superstar.

"But I am just such a super fan. I need to tone it down. I need to start playing it really cool. We all know that everybody who likes somebody, that they have to play a little hard to get - I'm just like a dog in a window panting, waiting to be around her. It's just really pathetic," she admitted.

Paulson thinks Gaga, a theatrical performer already, is a great fit for the dramatic and frequently campy American Horror Story.

"It's really just because I'm in awe of her talent and I really think she's going to be an incredible addition to the show. I just think she's a perfect fit," Paulson said.

Paulson will play a more villainous character in the upcoming fifth season, American Horror Story: Hotel. She will play Hypodermic Sally, a drug addict who lives at the hotel. Meanwhile, Gaga is playing Elizabeth a.k.a. The Countess, the owner of the hotel.

American Horror Story: Hotel premieres Wednesday, Oct. 7 at 10 p.m. ET/PT on FX.
