'Doctor Who' Season 9: Maisie Williams To Cover 'Quite A Range', Peter Capaldi Teases Episodes 5 & 6 [VIDEO]
Doctor Who will put Maisie Williams through her paces in season 9.
The Game of Throne's star has swapped Westeros for the TARDIS, and viewers will be surprised at just how varied the youngster's role really is. Set to appear in "The Girl Who Died" and "The Woman Who Lived," the 18-year-old Brit will have her hands full with episodes 5 and 6.
"Those two are exceptional! Doctor Who meets Game of Thrones! Well, only because Maisie Williams is in them," showrunner Steven Moffat told SFX Magazine (via Doctor Who TV). "The first part features Vikings fighting mercenary robots (and a dragon!) and the second one sees a group of Highwaymen dealing with a Norse god."
Set photos have confirmed Williams will be dressed as a Highwayman for the second half of the two-parter, but it appears her episode 5 role will be rather different.
"You'll see what she does on the show, she has to cover quite a range, she has to be quite different in different episodes, and she does it quite beautifully and subtly," Peter Capaldi (Twelve) informed Den of Geek.
Are you excited to see Williams shed the visage of Arya to take on this unknown character (or characters)? Sound off in the comments below!
Doctor Who will return to the BBC and BBC America on Sept. 19 with "The Magician's Apprentice." Click the video below to see a new season 9 promo.
