'Vikings' Season 4: Go Behind The Scenes With Katheryn Winnick, Lagertha's 'Amazing Story' Teased [VIDEO]
Watch out, Europe. Vikings' Lagertha is back, and she's ready to kick butt.
Currently filming for Vikings's fourth season, actress Katheryn Winnick recently gave fans a behind-the-scenes look at fight training. Winnick, who operates largely without a stunt double, is particularly handy with steel and wood after four years embodying one of the fiercest shield maidens.

"It's important to me to not have a stunt double unless it's something that's extremely [difficult]," Winnick explained to Star Pulse. After earning her first black belt at age 13, the Canadian actress went on to run her own martial arts school, a feat that gave her the skills necessary to take on the role of Lagertha. "I feel very comfortable holding a shield and a sword, and I think my martial arts background has given me the foundation I need."

Despite her prowess in battle, Lagertha will still have plenty of problems to deal with in season 4.
"She has an amazing story arc this season; something so unexpected that I can't even begin to talk about it because I would immediately say too much," series creator Michael Hirst told The Hollywood Reporter at the 2015 San Diego Comic-Con. "I'm so proud that Katheryn and I have created one of the few female characters on American TV who is a mother, a wife and kicks ass. I can promise that she does all those things."
