Does Hannibal have a future?

'Supernatural' Season 11 Spoilers: 'Lucifer And/Or God' To Appear? Jared Padalecki Teases New Allies & Old Foes

Dr. Lecter (Mads Mikkelsen) and Will Graham (Hugh Dancy) took a flying leap off a cliff in the season 3 finale - literally - but characters in the Bryan Fuller series have a way of evading death. If the cannibal and the profiler still have breath in their lungs, Fuller has plans for their future.

"[Executive producer] Martha De Laurentiis is investigating financing for a feature film and there's any of a number of scenarios," Fuller told Variety, outlining possible avenues Hannibal could explore now that it's time on NBC has ended. "Shows have come back years after they've been cancelled, and I'm never saying never because ... as creatively daunting as it would be to tell that fourth season of Will and Hannibal's story, I'm very excited by that challenge."

Based on the nature of the "Wrath of the Lamb" ending, Fuller believes the series could easily stay off the air for quite some time while waiting for its comeback.

"the finale ends in a way that the show could lie fallow for a couple of years," Fuller told Entertainment Weekly, reminding viewers that, like each prior season finale, episode 13 was designed to function as a series finale if necessary.
