'The Blacklist' NBC: How Are Red & Liz Connected? 'Endgame' Coming [VIDEO]
The Blacklist's Red Reddington isn't Liz's father, so what exactly is his connection to the woman he's work so hard to save?
Liz's (Megan Boone) past is still largely a mystery, but we now know one thing for sure - she put a bullet in dear old dad before she even hit double digits. One can only imagine how traumatizing that can be for a child, and Mr. Reddington (James Spader) swooped in to put a band-aid on the wound, hovering in the distance until he felt the need to meddle once more.
But why? Where did Red come from and why did he insert himself so inextricably into Liz's world? While the opening episodes of season 3 will leave this question untouched, fans will be pleased to hear that Liz's connection to Red, and the rest of her muddle past, is hurtling towards a well-defined conclusion.

"I understand that there's an appetite to want the whole truth. But the whole truth won't come until the end, and along the way, many breadcrumbs have been laid out," series creator Jon Bokenkamp informed TV Line. "We're definitely working toward an endgame."
In the meantime, Red will simply be defined by his role as Lizzie's "sin eater."
"When we come into the new season, she has accepted that he is what he described himself as being at the end of season 2, which is her sin eater," executive producer John Eisendrath explained. "Someone who will do whatever it takes to protect her reasons that she is still not entirely clear about."
