'True Detective' Season 3: Could A New Season Star Jake Gyllenhaal, Ryan Gosling, Cara Delevingne & More? [VIDEO]
It's unclear if HBO is going to actually order a third season of True Detective following the lack of popularity that plagued the recent second season, but hopeful fans are already pushing forward their hopes for who could star in a new installment of the mystery anthology series.
Did Rachel McAdams & Taylor Kitsch Break-Up?
Fans have been stepping up to the plate to come up with new themes and dream cast lists for the series, which in its landmark first season scored Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson, and in the at one point highly anticipated second season, Colin Farrell, Rachel McAdams, Taylor Kitsch and Vince Vaughn.
One fan in particular has gone so far as to create a unique season 3 opening credits for their dream cast-taking cues from the season 2 credits but adding in visual effects to show members of the dream cast, and adding some new colors and music-giving the show a more 80's vibe with electropop music.
Did Fans Like How Season 2 Of 'True Detective' Came To An End?
As for the dream cast? It includes Jake Gyllenhaal, Ryan Gosling and James Franco in male lead roles, as well as Cara Delevingne as a female lead.
Though of course none of these actors are yet attached to the project (since it's still unclear if a third season is being ordered, and if it were, a cast still won't be announced for some time), the dreamcast could prove to be an excellent group to star in the show, which has had noir and dark elements in it in the past.
Gyllenhaal has previously worked on Southpaw, Nightcrawler, Brokeback Mountain and Donnie Darko, while Franco has been in 127 Hours, General Hospital and other projects. Gosling is known for his roles in films like Only God Forgives, The Place Beyond The Pines and Drive, as well his directorial debut Lost River. Delevingne is new to the scene as an actress, but has scored lead roles in Paper Towns, Pan and Suicide Squad.
