Who may be the next team to proudly hold the title (and $1 million paycheck) that comes from being crowned the winners of The Amazing Race?

The Cast Of 'The Amazing Race' 27 Has Been Revealed

The season 27 teams have officially been identified, and while the winners are already determined because the show is pre-taped, many fans are already choosing their favorites to be the first to cross the finish line in this fall's finale episode, winning the official prize and title.

Find Out What Teams Will Encounter On First Leg

The season is sure to have some of its most competitive teams yet, with several having careers in competition based areas, as well as some athletes as well-meaning this race around the world could be one of the most unpredictable yet.

However, the show's history suggests that certain teams on occasion have an advantage over their competitors, with 25 prior seasons (one season which was a family edition isn't factored into the stats) showing 12 wins for Male/Female teams, versus nine All-Male and three All-Female teams, while 11 Dating or Married couples have taken the top prize alongside seven teams of friends and/or co-workers and six teams of relatives. Also, a surprising statistic shows that only one team of professional athletes has successfully won the race, with the other 24 all being won by others.

When comparing these statistics to the teams for season 27, it seems most likely that either Cindy and Rick, Justin and Diana, Kelsey and Joey or Logan and Chris could be the ones who will eventually be revealed as the winners.

However, dark horse contenders have also proven themselves throughout the seasons as well, with teams from several recent seasons shocking with their eventual wins and strong performances throughout. Sisters Kisha and Jen became the second all-female team to win in season 18, with no prior first place finishes during the season, a feat that was repeated in season 21 by The Fabulous Beekman Boys, Josh and Brent, and food scientists Amy and Maya in season 26.

In a video introducing the season 27 cast, host Phil Keoghan himself identifies Tiffany and Krista as possible dark horses because their careers as former pro cheerleaders could cause other teams to underestimate them-which could bring them the win as well.

Of course, the only way to know for sure who may win would be to watch the season, which premieres on Friday, Sept. 25 at 8 p.m. on CBS.
