They have fundamental differences which could cause them problems, but mother/son team James Earl Corley and Denise Williams aren't going to let that keep them from being positive and trying to be the first ones to cross the finish line on season 27 of The Amazing Race.

Team TMZ Isn't Afraid To Be 'Harsh' & 'Blunt'

The pair, who are known as #TeamAlabama in the new season, talked about the struggles they faced when James first came out to his mother in a pre-race interview, and acknowledged how their relationship has changed since that moment-but also revealed that Denise's more outgoing personality could be an advantage for them as they try to beat the other teams.

"This one is very extroverted and outgoing. She can talk to a bush for an hour and it's her new best friend," James says in the clip. "The good thing about that is that she will be able to convince anyone to do anything. Like I don't think we're ever going to get a no from somebody, because this woman will make it happen."

However, the younger member of the team also said another advantage they would have would be that they rarely try to stop being positive people.

"We try to be positive, like bring a good energy to things," James says. "If anything we try to find the sunny side or the silver lining...it takes a lot to get under our skin and to get us pretty negative."

And overall, the two think that as long as they try to keep their emotions in check and try to just keep moving though things and looking towards the ultimate goal, they'll go far in the race.

"Our motto is just keep moving forward. Don't get stuck, don't get angry. Or we can be angry, but jst keep moving forward," James says.

The Amazing Race season 27 premieres Friday, Sept. 25 at 8 p.m. on CBS.
