Bethenny Frankel & Jason Hoppy Split, Separated After 2 Year Marriage
Reality star Bethenny Frankel and her husband Jason Hoppy are separating after two years of marriage.
The Bravo star announced the news of a split through a statement she issued to several news outlets.
"It brings me great sadness to say that Jason and I are separating," Frankel told E! News Dec.23. "This was an extremely difficult decision that as a woman and a mother, I have to accept as the best choice for our family."
Frankel added that the breakup during the holiday season is "an immensely painful and heartbreaking time" for the pair.
"We have love and respect for one another and will continue to amicably co-parent our daughter who is and will always remain our first priority," she added. "This is an immensely painful and heartbreaking time for us."
A source close to the reality star explained that prior to making the final decision to part ways, Frankel worked "really hard" to keep the family together.
"They care about each other. They're both devastated," a friend of Frankel's told Us Weekly. "Bethenny fought really hard for her family."
The split comes just days after sources told Us Weekly that the spouses have been increasingly butting heads.
The pubiclication reported on Dec.12 that the couple's relationship had become more "strained in recent months." Later, In Touch reported that Frankel met with divorce lawyers.
"They're fighting a lot," an insider told Us.
The source also revealed that the former couple had been spending time apart. When the talk show host and entrepreneur held a Skinny Girl Christmas party recently, Hoppy skipped the event, opting to play golf rather than attend and support his wife.
Frankel met Hoppy, her second husband, in 2008. The real estate businessman proposed after 11 months of dating with a 6.5-carat diamond ring. They tied the knot less than a year later, on March 28, 2010 at the famed Four Seasons in New York City. The ceremony was featured on the first season of her own Bravo reality show, "Bethenny Getting Married."
Frankel, 42, first met Hoppy, 41, in 2009 when she was still part of the original cast of "The Real Housewives of New York." Her spin-off series, "Bethenny Getting Married," followed their trip to the alter. After attaining a huge fan base, Bravo gave Frankel a second spin-off show, "Bethenny Ever After." That show followed their marriage and the birth of their daughter.
The former couple share a daughter, Bryn, 2.
