With the end of Big Brother 17 in sight, which houseguest has the best shot of getting to the end and winning the $500,000 prize?

Are Vanessa & John Getting Ready To Blindside Austin On The Next 'Big Brother' Eviction?

There are only five houseguests left in the Big Brother house, which will be down to four by the end of tonight, and three by the end of tomorrow night. So while we're still in the calm before the storm, let's analyze the chances of each houseguest left in the game.

John Proposes Final 3 Deal To Austin & Liz on 'Big Brother'

Austin Matelson

Austin has played a surprisingly strong social game, at least whenever he's not attached at the hip to Liz. Despite his low popularity among fans, he does not have a bad reputation in the house and has not done anything to really anger the jury to the point that they wouldn't vote for him. Unfortunately for him, though, Vanessa and John were intent on blindsiding him from what we last saw on the live feeds. The houseguests may have been foolish to bring a showmance this far into the game, but that may end tonight. But assuming Vanessa and/or John have a chance of heart, Austin could very well slip to the end of the game and have the votes to win.

John McGuire

John has been in an underdog position for the entire game. He still has yet to win Head of Household despite racking up four Veto wins. At this late stage in the game, he has not tethered himself to an official alliance other than Steve and very loosely Vanessa. John may have been seen as a goofy wildcard who isn't really playing the game through most of the summer, but he has really stepped up his game this week. He has been playing Vanessa very carefully, using "reverse, reverse, reverse psychology" and avoided eviction with a clutch Veto win. He may have to rely on competition wins from here on out, but if he actually creates a compelling case for himself to the jury (by potentially blindsiding Vanessa) he could be in a good position to win their votes.

Liz Nolan

Liz has been very well protected throughout the game due to her showmance with Austin and the presence of her sister, Julia. The first time she was seriously in danger of going home was last week, and she reacted very emotionally to it. If Vanessa blindsides Austin, Liz could be on a vengeance to then get Vanessa out, though she may have no choice to work with her if both John and Steve are still in the house. Liz has been less social than Austin and doesn't seem to be very well liked by the jury, so even if she makes the Final 2, she may be playing for runner-up money at best.

Steve Moses

Steve has played an under-the-radar game this whole summer, often milking his role as the kid in way over his head. But now he's in the Final 5 and has a serious shot of winning the final competitions of the season, which are often mental. He has been under Vanessa's wing for the past several weeks while also forming a bond with John, so he is insulated well. But if Vanessa senses that Steve is her strongest competition in the final week, she may take the shot now that she has the power. It is unknown if the jury would reward Steve win the money, so it may depend on who he is up against.

Vanessa Rousso

Vanessa is the undisputed mastermind of Big Brother 17, emotional outbursts aside. She has controlled just about every eviction of the summer whether she was HOH or not and has made so many deals that it's hard to even keep track anymore. It seems pretty likely that if Vanessa gets to the Final 2, she can win against anyone. But the Final 4 is her biggest obstacle. She is going to have to win the Veto competition no matter what if she wants to stay in the game, because there's a high probability she'll be evicted if she doesn't. Then she might have to win the final HOH competition in order to ensure a Final 2 spot. So if Vanessa chokes in any of the coming competitions, she will be in great danger, but if she doesn't, we may be looking at our Big Brother 17 winner.

But of course, anything can change in the days to come in the Big Brother house.

Big Brother 17 returns tonight at 8 p.m. ET/PT on CBS, featuring the Power of Veto competition, Veto meeting, eviction and next HOH competition.
