The Green Bay Packers (11-4) will go up against the Minnesota Vikings (9-6) at the Mall of America Field late on Sunday afternoon.
If the Packers can defeat the Vikings then it would assure them a bye in the first round of the playoffs, putting them directly into the NFC divisional game.
However, the gridiron matchup will have severe ramifications of its own for the Vikings. If Minnesota can snap a five-game skid versus Green Bay, it would secure the team's first playoff berth since 2009, which could potentially set up another game between the two sides next week at Lambeau Field in the postseason.
If Minnesota does come up short against the Packers, they would need the Chicago Bears, Dallas Cowboys and New York Giants to all lose in order to still sneak into the playoffs.
"When you come to training camp, everything you're working towards is to get to the playoffs and let the chips fall where they may once you get there. For us to be on the cusp of getting there, it's satisfying in some ways, but until you actually make it happen, it's hard to put your mind in that frame," coach Leslie Frazer told ESPN.
We really have to focus on this ballgame, winning this game. Until you get that accomplished, its hard to even think about what's ahead," he added.
Similar to Frazier's approach toward the crucial Week 16 matchup, Packers' coach Mike McCarthy doesn't want to overanalyze the potential scenarios either.
"I really don't care to talk about any type of scenarios. We're really focused on beating the Vikings. As far as who we play, where we play in the playoffs, it's really not a concern of mine. It's important for us to stay on track," he said.
