The Wisconsin Badgers (8-5) will face off against the Stanford Cardinal (11-2) in the infamous Rose Bowl on Tuesday in Pasadena, California.

Badgers' coach Bret Bielema has led the team to four consecutive 10-win seasons and three straight Rose Bowl appearances in a span of seven years in Madison. However, he couldn't pull out a victory in the oldest bowl before leaving for Arkansas.

Luckily, his replacement is a familiar face who has fared better in the Rose Bowl game, as Barry Alvarez will temporarily return to Wiisconsin's sidelines looking for his fourth Rose Bowl win, but the No. 6-ranked Cardinal are clearly a force to be reckoned with and the task won't be an easy one.

Bielema was picked to take over for Alvarez when the program's winningest coach stepped down after the 2005 season.

On Dec. 1, the Badgers dominated the Nebraska Cornhuskers in the Big Ten championship to make it into its third straight Rose Bowl. However, the only reason they got in this time around was possibly due to the ineligibility of both Penn State and Ohio State.

Wisconsin's enthusiasm was weakened three days later when it was revealed that Bielema was going to Arkansas. Bielema himself indicated that his former mentor may temporarily take the helm for the Badgers during an introductory press conference in Fayetteville.

"They might finally win one. Everyone tells me he won three and I lost two," Bielema told ESPN.

While Bielema's exit comes as a disappointment to many, Badgers' players are seem to be giving the move their seal of approval.

"It's the best thing that could happen. He's familiar with what we do and he built this program. That's why kids like me come here," said linebacker Mike Taylor.
