Although Aria’s relationship with her father isn’t on the best of terms, Byron’s mistress will re-enter the drama in a large way during the second part of “Pretty Little Liars’” third season, which returns next week.

ABC Family recently revealed that Aria is “down for the count when sidelined by the flu.” Meredith (Amanda Schull) is the one who “steps up to help take care of Aria while her father is away.”

Although she seems like a female knight in shining armor, the nurse’s outfit may simply be a ploy as Meredith “may have ulterior motives to her nursing Aria back to health.”

Also, Emily (Shay Mitchell) and Hanna (Ashley Benson) will “follow up on a new clue,” and the episode will have Spencer (Troian Bellisario) and Toby (Keegan Allen) celebrating their anniversary as well.

Hollywood Life recently spoke to the cast of “Pretty Little Liars” at ABC Family’s Winter Wonderland event in New York City, and Shay Mitchell wasn’t shy about hinting at what’s to unfold in Rosewood, including the arrival of U.S. gold medalist Missy Franklin to the show.

“I was so amazed by all of her gold medals, and her bronze as well. It was really cool to work with her, and she was such a professional. She new her mark, knew her lines; I was kind of like, ‘Wow! You are amazing,” she said.

Franklin aside, it also appears as though Paige (Lindsey Shaw) will continue to aid Emily in moving forward from Maya (Bianca Lawson).

“Maya was her first real relationship, and I think it was extremely hard for Emily. But at the same time, it does show that life goes on and you have to move forward with it. And I do think that Paige has been an amazing person for Emily, so I love their relationship,” Mitchell added.

“Pretty Little Liars” Season 3 will be return to the ABC Family on Tuesday, Jan. 8 at 8 p.m. EST
