NeNe Leakes Engaged,"Real Housewives Of Atlanta" Star Set To Wed Ex-Husband Gregg
"The Real Housewives of Atlanta" star NeNe Leakes is engaged to ex-husband Gregg Leakes again.
Leakes confirmed the reconciliation during her appearance on "Late Night With Jimmy Fallon" on Jan. 3. The subject came up when the show's host inquired about a series of photos NeNe posted on Twitter on New Year's Eve.
"You start tweeting out these photos," Fallon said while holding up copies of the romantic pictures the "New Normal" star posted on the social media site. "So, are you engaged? Can you say anything?"
Leakes, 44, replied, "Well.... a little after midnight, I was asked this beautiful question: 'Will you marry me -- again?'" The NBC and Bravo star then shared that she had accepted Gregg's proposal that night.
Rumors of an engagement began after the former "Celebrity Apprentice" star shared pictures of romantic setups Gregg, 58, had arranged for her inside their beach condo. The first picture showed a candlelit hallway covered with rose petals.
"Look @ our nite cap! #new beginnings," she tweeted. She then posted a photo of champagne on ice, strawberries and the letters "G" and a "N" formed with Hershey's Kisses.
"IT'S ON NOW! #2013," NeNe captioned the photo of the chocolates.
"My answer was," she wrote in one post. "Yes," she concluded in another.
The couple met in 1996 and divorced in 2011 after 13 years of marriage. Together they have a son, Brentt, 13. NeNe also has a son from a previous relationship. Gregg said that the couple split when "fame got to (NeNe's) head" after he had invested $300,000 in her career during their marriage.
NeNe was coy when asked by reconciliation by Us Weekly in November.
"You know, we're divorced. I'm single and not looking. Love is beautiful thing and marriage is a beautiful thing," she said.
However, she hinted that she and Gregg may have rekindled their romance when she suggested fans tune in to the current season of "TRHOA" to see Gregg try to win back her heart.
"People will enjoy watching Gregg try to woo me back [during season 5]," she said at the time.
