Played by Lane Edwards, the unnamed angel will make his first appearance in "Out of the Darkness, Into the Fire," and he will stick around through at least episode 3.
Edwards, who previously appeared in "Dark Side of the Moon," couldn't reveal any details about his upcoming role, but the actor did echo the sentiments of many Supernatural guest stars - the series' cast and crew is one of the best in Vancouver.

"I did work in Season 5 and had a blast on that episode," Edwards told The Examiner. "On my first episode this time around Jensen Ackles was my director and he was fantastic to work with. This cast and crew is sort of known in Vancouver as being a favourite of local actors. They're really friendly and make you feel very comfortable. And I still have friends from my first time here so it was great to see everybody."
What role will Edwards' angel play? Could he be one of the heavenly soldiers threatening an addled Castiel (Misha Collins) in photos for episode 2, "Form and Void" (see above)?
