That's the lesson Joan Watson is about to learn on Elementary, and it will take at least two episodes for the knowledge to fully sink in. Morland will drop by NYC in the season premiere, and the Holmes patriarch will throw his son for a loop when he stays through episode 2, "Evidence of Things Not Seen."

As viewers will soon learn, the "things not seen" are Morland's true intentions. In town to help disperse Sherlock's legal woes, the elder Holmes will also try to get the consulting detective back in the NYPD's good graces. But what's his end game?

"When Morland offers to use his influence to have Sherlock and Joan reinstated as consultants to the NYPD, Sherlock's mistrust of his father makes him question his motivation to help," CBS teased. "Also, with no work offers coming in, Watson wrangles a gig with the FBI investigating a triple homicide in a top secret research lab."
