‘The Vampire Diaries’ Season 7 News: Matt Is Getting A Human Love Interest Named Penny [VIDEO]
The Vampire Diaries has all the intense supernatural and romantic aspects covered, yet it seems like certain characters on the series always come up a little short when it comes to love.
The town witch Bonnie Bennett (Kat Graham) and the lone human in Mystic Falls Matt (Zach Roerig) have not had the best luck in love.
That might be changing though in future episodes of this current season.
TVLine reported Tuesday that the series is currently casting the role of Matt's love interest.
The character is named Penny and she is described as being "cute," but "formidable." She'll have lots in common with Matt actually since she is a cop and she will be willing to put up a fight against the supernatural beings in town.
Then when it comes to everyone's favorite (or not-so-favorite) witch, things are up in the air. Graham spoke with ET Online about her character's love life.
Many fans of the show are hoping that Bonnie and Damon (Ian Somerhalder) will become an item, but Graham doesn't believe that'll happen.
"I have literally like pitched Bonnie with every single person under the sun; even women," Graham candidly shared, adding, "Being a witch to me is a very, very sexy thing. There's a lot of mystery to it, there's a lot of energy in dealing with the unknown, and dealing with this kind of powerful force so you'd just think that [romance] would come with the territory. We'll see what happens."
"I wish I could say it's definitely happening, or it's definitely not happening," she added in regard to "Bamon" (the ship name for Bonnie and Damon).
She hopes no matter what fans of the show will "appreciate" any and all scenes she has with Somerhalder.
The Vampire Diaries airs on The CW on Thursdays at 8 p.m. ET.
