It's hard to imagine a grownup Ward (Brett Dalton) being afraid of anyone, but viewers will get to see the impossible when Powers Boothe joins the cast as Gideon Malick. Considering Marvel never casts a person twice, it's safe to assume this is the same World Security Council character Boothe played in the 2012 Avengers outing.
Gideon's allegiance remains a mystery. Is he with SHIELD, Hydra, the ATCU, or none of the above? While fans wait to find out, one of Agents of SHIELD's Jeph Loeb has doled out a few teasers to tide you over.

"Gideon is incredibly menacing and in him we have a character that even the stone-cold Grant Ward would fear," the SHIELD EP informed Marvel. "Only someone of Powers' caliber could deliver the type of ominous and powerful performance we needed."
Well, lets hope Malick is on the side of the angels. Given SHIELD's luck however, the upcoming force majeure probably wants to grind Coulson (Clark Gregg) and Co. to a pulp.
