Jake Demands Answers From Nikolas

Since the shooting, which he did survive, Sonny's health has been on a roller coaster. During he and Carly'a second attempt at a wedding to prevent Ava (Maura West) from taking Avery away, a blood clot to Sonny's brain nearly killed him. He managed to pull through that as well, and he and Carly have also since successfully managed to say their I do's during their third attempt at a wedding ceremony in the hospital chapel. However, despite that one good thing coming through for Sonny, he will learn that his health may not return to a good place anytime soon.

After the blood clot surgery, Sonny seemed to be at least temporarily paralyzed and confined to a wheelchair, which was the condition he was in when he and Carly finally did wed. However, he was under the impression that he would eventually be able to walk and move his legs again-and return to his former powerful self. However, he may now learn that his life could be forever changed.
