Bindi Irwin and Derek Hough's homage to Dirty Dancing on the latest episode of ABC's Dancing With the Stars still could have gone wrong.

Hough spoke with Access Hollywood after Monday night's show, which featured him and Irwin dancing to "(I've Had) The Time Of My Life" from Dirty Dancing. The dance featured the same iconic lift featured in the movie, with Hough lifting Irwin perfectly.

But that lift was not a 100 percent guarantee to work perfectly, as Hough explained.

Paula Deen Says The 'Dancing With the Stars' Judges Didn't Like Her From The Start

"When we practiced it, it was like 50/50. It was like, sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn't," he said, of the lift. "Even just out here, we were doing it and her dress kept slipping up. Literally seconds before we went on, I had the costume department sew the dress to her underwear so it wouldn't slip up."

The dancer admitted that even with all his experience on Dancing With the Stars, he still gets anxious.

"I always get nervous on the show - always - it's a good feeling, but I've never been more nervous because it's such an iconic dance, iconic moment, and it's just something I'm not really used to doing myself," he said.

Luckily the lift went smoothly and the judges gave them a perfect score of 40 out of 40.

"So when we did it and we were up there, it was one of the greatest moments ever on the show for me," Hough admitted.

Irwin and Hough continue to be frontrunners through six weeks of competition. They have had several peaks so far in the competition, so how will they up themselves in the weeks to come? Only time will tell.

Dancing With the Stars airs Mondays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.
