'General Hospital' Cast News: Patrick Or Jason Making A Shocking Exit From Show? [PHOTO]
Huge reveals are on the horizon on General Hospital but those big secrets being revealed could see the exit of a major character as well.
The show has put out a casting call for a male lead character-and according to the rumor mills, it could be a recast for either Jason/Jake (Billy Miller), or more likely, Patrick (Jason Thompson).
According to some reports, Miller, who took on the role last year in a recast to replace Steve Burton, who left the series a few years before, could be considering leaving for a similar reason why he left The Young and the Restless-to pursue a role on a primetime series. With news that he has landed a role on the upcoming FOX drama Urban Cowboy, some are wondering if he would leave the show now.
Should it be Miller, it would be a major shock considering his character is at the heart of a major storyline playing out during November Sweeps-the official reveal that "Jake" is really Jason, back from the dead.
However, the more persistent rumor is that Thompson, who has portrayed Patrick Drake for a decade, has decided not to renew his contract with the show, meaning he will be exiting the show, and his role.
Patrick is ensnared in the big Jason reveal plotline as well because his character is currently engaged to Sam Morgan (Kelly Monaco)--Jason's wife, who still doesn't know he's alive. The big reveal is expected to bring an end to the Patrick and Sam romance, leaving Patrick alone.
In addition to the report Thompson is leaving, it has been said that his one-time on-screen wife, Kimberly McCullough (Robin Scorpio-Drake), would come back for episodes during November sweeps, though it is unclear for how many episodes. Though she has been off the canvas for a year, she is one of the characters who also knows the truth about Jason's identity, which will likely be the reason her character returns.
However, if her one-time husband has plans to leave town for a while, she could be taking him with her when she once again exits the canvas.
General Hospital airs Monday-Friday at 3 p.m. on ABC.
