One of the stars of Fox's Sleepy Hollow was not initially impressed with the idea of doing a crossover with Bones.

Why You Should Tune In To The Upcoming 'Bones' and 'Sleepy Hollow' Crossover

Tom Mison, who plays Ichabod Crane on Sleepy Hollow, admitted that when he first heard the news they were doing a Bones crossover, he was not about it.

"What a stupid idea. I thought, 'No way, different universes, it'll never work,'" Mison admitted to Entertainment Weekly recently.

Will Brennan & Booth's Love Affect Abbie & Ichabod Crane In 'Bones' & 'Sleepy Hollow' Crossover?

While the shows share the same network and a similar male-female dynamic in the lead roles, they could not be further apart in tone. But neither show will be altered in significant ways to make room for their counterpart.

The shows are "very different tonally," Mison explained. "It's really nice to see a transition from Bones into Sleepy Hollow and see the very few moments where they do interlink, where there's weird dead bodies and mysteries - but they solve it with science, and we solve it with an old book and a founding father."

But ultimately Boreanaz admitted it was "fun" to "see those worlds collide," adding that it's "like a Ghostbuster moment."

Deschanel added that the Sleepy Hollow episode is "like an Indiana Jones situation," though she quickly noted, "My character is essentially an archeologist, right, so same thing."

The crossover begins with Crane and Abbie going to the Jeffersonian to claim a 200-year-old headless corpse.

"The new foursome must figure out how to work together to discover who the 200-year-old headless corpse is, and how it is linked to a contemporary murder victim," the synopsis for the crossover reads.

The Bones and Sleepy Hollow crossover begins Thursday at 8 p.m. ET/PT on Fox.
