What's the whole story behind Monica Padilla's experience on CBS's Survivor: Cambodia - Second Chance?

Monica was voted out in a stealthy 3-2-1 vote orchestrated by her supposed allies Jeremy Collins, Kimmi Kappenberg and Stephen Fishbach in episode 5. The show presented the reasoning behind this decision as Kimmi being suspicious of Monica's plans to create a girls' alliance rather than stick to the Bayon plan.

Up to her boot episode, Monica had largely been invisible on the show save for an occasional confessional. It is not rare for pre-merge boots to have small edits considering the show doesn't want viewers to get too attached to players who don't have much impact on the game. But there may have been something truly fishy going on with Monica's presence in the game.

Gross Food Challenge Coming Next Week On 'Survivor'

A new report from noted Survivor spoiler Redmond (a.k.a. Martin Holmes) on his site Inside Survivor suggests production may not have minded that Monica was voted out. The report cites inside sources who said that production stopped interviewing Monica after the Day 7 tribe swap. While not proven, this could mean that production didn't entirely care about Monica's story compared to most of her fellow players.

Additionally, Monica may have been the victim of a challenge throw. We didn't see any evidence on the show to suggest a challenge throw was at play, but when asked on Twitter why he sat out of the Immunity Challenge, Jeremy said:

This was also retweeted by Stephen. So not only did production allegedly stop interviewing her, her fellow tribe members may have thrown a challenge just to get her out.

On top of everything, in her exit interviews Monica has heavily implied some production influence involved in her ouster. She told People about the "Survivor Gods" giving Kelly Wiglesworth and Spencer Bledsoe "some protection" in the game due to their bigger reputations.

"It's like, 'Who's more expendable out of the three? Who do the fans want to see go home, and who do they want to stay?' So I think there's some of that influence," she added.

Monica also told HollywoodLife.com, "I don't know if I was ever meant to win Second Chance, regardless what I thought going into the game" when asked what she would have done differently.

We may never know the extent of what went down in Cambodia, but evidence may suggest that the cards were certainly stacked against Monica.

Survivor: Cambodia - Second Chance airs Wednesdays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on CBS.
