General Hospital fans have been feeling the hole that was left behind when legacy character Luke Spencer exited the soap back in July, but now, a new familiar face is set to make a return to Port Charles.

Tristan Rogers, who has portrayed Robert Scorpio on and off since 1980, is set to make a return to the soap this December, marking the first time his landmark character has appeared on the show since January 2014, not long after his on-screen daughter, Robin (Kimberly McCullogh) revealed herself to be alive.

The announcement that Rogers was returning comes on the heels of one which stated McCullogh would come back in November, while her on-screen mother and Robert's one-time love Anna (Finola Hughes) has extended her contract to continue her role, meaning the entire Scorpio family will be reunited.

"Scorpio is such a beloved legacy character who evokes a sense of nostalgia and I know the fans have been patiently waiting for Tristan's return," Executive Producer Frank Valentini said in a statement Oct. 28. "I share their sentiments and enthusiasm and that of our entire GH team in welcoming him home It's been a fantastic week of casting announcements for GH, but it's not over yet."

Rogers himself also released a statement about his return, saying he was excited to bring the character back to the canvas and was eager to see what adventures h would get into this time around.

"I am delighted to be visiting my GH family once again and look forward to what Robert Scorpio has in store," he said.

It is unclear if Rogers will only be back for a limited time or if his return is on a more permanent basis.
