Jessica Simpson Sitcom: New Comedy Show in Pilot Stage [Video]
Is there a possibility of a Jessica Simpson sitcom? The pregnant actress and fashionista revealed on Jay Leno's 'The Tonight Show' that she has been working on a new sitcom pilot based on her life. The NBC pilot deal for the comedy, which is yet to be officially named, will be based on her life and Simpson will play herself.
Simpson told Leno: "I will be playing myself, which is pretty easy." She continued: "All the embarrassing things that happened behind closed doors, I always wished that they were filmed."
The pilot for the sitcom will be written by executive producer Nick Bakay and Ben Silverman. Simpson's manager and father Joe Simpson will also take part in writing up the pilot.
Simpson had recently told the Hollywood Reporter: "I am so excited to work with Ben and NBC again, this time on a scripted comedy. I often find myself thinking that no one could ever make up the things that actually happen in my life -- so between the real-life elements and a great team of writers, I think we'll have people laughing!"
According to TV Guide, the first episode may be about Simpson's second child, as the star is currently in the stages of her second pregnancy. Simpson, who gave birth to daughter Maxwell Drew last year, is expecting another child with current fiance Eric Johnson.
The 32-year-old previously starred in a reality show which documented her life with her ex-husband. "Newlyweds: Nick and Jessica" saw Simpson with her then-husband Nick Lachey going through the early stages of marriage. It ran three series, running from August 2003 to January 2005. The pair separated shortly after and finalized their divorce in 2006.
