How does Denis O'Hare see his American Horror Story: Hotel character, Liz Taylor?

Through the first four episodes of AHS: Hotel O'Hare's Liz Taylor has lurked in the shadows, occasionally dropping in for a one-liner or two. But last night's episode saw a further exploration into how Liz Taylor became Liz Taylor.

So does O'Hare consider Liz to be on the side of good or bad? The actor told The Daily Beast that she's closer to the side of good.

'American Horror Story' Star Evan Peters Has Some 'Weird' Feelings About Onscreen Nudity

"You know I would say she's definitely on the good side. I would temper that by saying that everyone in American Horror Story, especially in Hotel, is just looking to survive," O'Hare explained. "Everyone is just looking to wake up the next morning intact. So she's in survival mode, but she's also fiercely loyal. She has a very strong moral code. She's an ethical person. And she's a romantic! What she's ultimately looking for is to live a fulfilling life. And halfway through the season she finds love, which is a first for me on this series. And that's really amazing."

O'Hare also spoke about finding out the type of character he would be playing in Hotel, which is certainly a huge transformation from the actor's usual appearance.

"I was definitely nervous. It's not in my wheelhouse," he admitted. "It also wasn't anything that I had envisioned for myself. It was not what I expected. So I was really thrown for a loop. I definitely spent some time just thinking about it and contemplating it. I would never say no, because a) it's Ryan [Murphy] and I love working for him and b) I love a challenge. So whatever is given to you, you should do. The old rule of thumb for an actor was if it makes you scared you should do it."

American Horror Story: Hotel airs Wednesdays at 10 p.m. ET/PT on FX.
