Despite not being able to fully trust Zelena, the group of Mary Margaret (Ginnifer Goodwin), David (Josh Dallas), Regina (Lana Parrilla) and more must use her to meet their goal. In this case, they are trying to sneak into Arthur's (Liam Gallagher) castle to steal the all-important sword in order to reunite it with Excalibur. This would essentially free Emma (Jennifer Morrison) from the Darkness that has consumed her.
Goodwin spoke with Entertainment Weekly about the gang trusting Zelena to help them in their mission.

"We're a bit naïve," Goodwin quipped. "Haven't we been here before? The audience will be a half-step ahead of our gang in terms of what could befall them in teaming up with Zelena. Does anybody really think that's a good idea?"
Sean Maguire, who plays Robin Hood, added that "there's a reason" behind enlisting Zelena.
"We don't want to, but there's something she can do," he said. "There's an advantage to using her. We question whether or not we can use her and if it's going to backfire. None of us trust her. We know she's evil, but at the same time, we're trying to collectively find a solution to the problems that we're currently facing and they need drastic resolutions quickly."
Bringing Zelena along seems like a huge risk, but with Emma remaining powerless to the Darkness, it's a risk the gang has to take.
