Nick Carter may just miss out on making it to the finale on ABC's Dancing With the Stars.

Why Was 'DWTS' Pro Derek Hough So 'Grumpy' This Past Week?

Carter and his pro partner Sharna Burgess had the lowest score from the judges in last night's episode of Dancing With the Stars, with a 54 out of 60 overall. They had the lowest score for their individual dance and they lost the dance off to Bindi Irwin and Derek Hough. However, they did end up scoring a 30 out of 30 for their trio dance with Peta Murgatroyd.

Heading into next week's finals, one couple will be eliminated before Tuesday's finale. Will it be Carter and Burgess? It's very possible. Consider the following:

Does The Game Want To Be 'Dancing With the Stars' Contestant?

Irwin and Hough have been frontrunners from the start of the competition, consistently receiving high scores. This, combined with Irwin's bubbly personality and Hough's overall popularity as a pro, they seem to be unstoppable. Barring any huge slip ups, they should be smooth sailing to the finale.

Carlos PenaVega and Witney Carson have had an up and down season, but he has steadily improved into a real contender over the past few weeks. He also has a sympathy factor, having to see his wife, Alexa PenaVega, being eliminated from the competition last week.

Alek Skarlatos and Lindsay Arnold have never truly been frontrunners in this competition, but he has had major appeal for his backstory as an ordinary citizen who stepped up in a time of crisis. His humble charm has aided him even when he was the lowest scoring dancer in the competition.

Meanwhile, Carter has been very consistent as a strong dancer throughout the season, but it's difficult to pinpoint a story for him. He did have a moment a few weeks back of learning his wife was pregnant with a baby boy, but his overall journey doesn't appear to be as strong or passionate to the audience as the other three.

However, Carter does have a big Backstreet Boys fan base behind him and they could very well carry him through to the finale. Anything is possible in the ballroom.

Dancing With the Stars airs Mondays at 8/7c on ABC.
