The upcoming midseason finale of ABC's Castle will be a major one as Rick (Nathan Fillion) finally confronts Kate (Stana Katic) on their "time out."

'Castle' Is Returning To ABC Earlier Than Expected In 2016

Castle fans have been frustrated that Rick has yet to truly take Kate to task on her suddenly requesting a break in their relationship. But the midseason finale, titled Mr. and Mrs. Castle will feature some choice words thrown in Kate's direction courtesy of Rick, according to a new TVLine report.

The confrontation may risk the future of their relationship, though, as TVLine reports that one of them says "I just hope I didn't nuke my marriage" at one point in the episode.

Meanwhile, the episode will also feature the introduction of Kris Polaha as Caleb Brown, a public defender who has idealistic views. This will lead to an extended storyline between him and the the 12th precinct in future episodes, according to a new TVGuide.com post.

"He's a true believer in justice, which is very similar to Beckett." Castle co-creator Terence Paul Winter told the publication. "By design, public defenders are often at odds with the NYPD because they represent a lot of the criminals the 12th precinct brings in. That will create a bit of conflict that will carry on into future episodes we're planning in the new year."

By the sound of things, it won't be smooth sailing for Rick or Kate in either their personal or professional lives in the episodes to come.

Castle airs Mondays at 10 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.
