News had surfaced last week that "Homeland" series regular Diego Klattenhoff's (Mike Faber) status for Season three of the show would be changing, as he's set to be limited to only a recurring role. Such a move made by Showtime's popular TV program begs the question of whether any other principal roles will be effected in any way.

According to TVLine, the part of Mike will not be seeing as much air time in the future. Word through the grapevine indicates that he'll more than certainly make sporadic appearances, as it would be hard to fathom a future for his love interest Jess (Merena Baccarin) and her children without him at this point in time.

The Faber character has been there for Jess and her kin through turbulent times. If he were to completely exit at the peak of the family's hardship, it would surely not come across as logical.

Assuming that Mike ends up staying put for the long haul with the Brody clan, the part of Jess may seemingly be limited as well.

Due to Nicholas Brody (Damian Lewis) fleeing the country, such a move may make sense in lieu of the respective announcement.

Nonetheless, showrunner Alex Gansa has set up the action in such a way that the Nicholas Brody storyline won't be halted anytime soon. However, there clearly will be other action going into Season three and beyond.

On the other hand, the "Homeland " television writers could be looking to also send Mike overseas for a considerable amount of time, which could serve to ignite more conflict with the rest of the Brody's if Jess is forced to be a single mother.

Since Faber is indeed a soldier, it gives the creative staff a massive amount of flexibility over what they can do moving forward with his character's development or demise.

The only possible scenario that could hinder Klattenhoff's future with the series would be for him to get an opportunity for a main role on another program. The scenario is a strong possibility with the limited role announcement coming just in time for pilot season.
