Actress' Hair Falling Out: January Jones Losing Clumps of Hair Due to Excessive Dyeing
January Jones revealed at the Sundance Film Festival that beauty comes at a painful price. Due to extreme color processing, the "Madmen" actress is losing her hair, and not just a few strands.
“I have been every color and now my hair is falling out in clumps,” she told the magazine. “I’m going to have to shave it off and wear a wig.” With a well-rounded and diverse career in both TV and film, the 34-year-old mom has undergone many hair color changes to fit the look for each role. In "Mad Men", Jones plays the role of Betty Draper, who is known to sport a bright blonde hue. Draper has become a popular TV hair icon sporting many retro styles from romantic deep-set waves to beehives and bouffants.
Jones’ delicate hair strands have yet to garner any relief with even more color changes for her role in "Sweetwater", which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival.
“I’ve been blonde, red with extensions for this film, then black and now blonde again,” she said.
In March 2012, Jones stepped completely out of the box wearing a bubble gum pink highlighted hairdo. Though the actress is a fan of all colors, she said she sticks with blonde because it’s easier for her 2-year-old son, Xander to recognize her. “I like it all colors, it makes you feel different according to what color it is, but I prefer to be blonde. My son recognizes me in photos when I am blonde, he says mama,” she said.
Jones gave birth to her son, Xander Dane Jones in September 2011. The actress is raising her son alone as a single mom. Though the actress is pretty silent when it comes to her love life, Jones has been most recently linked to her "Sweetwater" director, Noah Miller.
