Welcome back, Luci!

'Supernatural' Season 11: Claire, Alex & Jody Mills To Team Up? PHOTOS & Teasers For Episode 12

The Darkness is giving the Supernatural crew a run for their money, and the Devil himself would like to lend a helping hand.

It's been five years since Sammy (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) shoved Lucifer (Mark Pellegrino) back in his box, but it seems the fallen angel has found a way to reignite his connection with his former vessel. Sam's visions are far from Heaven sent.

'Supernatural' Season 11: Where Are Sam's Visions Coming From? Jared Padalecki Reveals When You Will Find Out

Pellegrino's character will rejoin the cast in the midseason finale, which is titled "Oh Brother, Where Art Thou?" Considering the casting choice, it's safe to assume that the Devil will be purely a construct of Sam's mind, at least for the time being. Luci's original vessel could barely contain Satan back in season 5, and Pellegrino's original form is undoubtedly now six-feet under. Unless the series is planning on performing a little resurrection (not unprecedented), Lucifer might not look the same if the Winchester choose to let him back out.

"We will delve more deeply into what's in that cage and these visions will continue and Sam will go to whatever lengths he needs to go to figure out who is in that cage, what they have to say and why they have to say it," Padalecki promised IGN.

Check out the episode summary below:

"Amara (guest star Emily Swallow) unleashes her power on the local townspeople as she issues a shocking challenge," The CW teased. "Dean tries to better understand the hold Amara has on him, while Sam and Crowley (Mark Sheppard) come up with a plan that could have disastrous consequences."
