Following a one-week hiatus, Scandal returns with an all-new episode titled Truth or Consequences on Thursday.

When the series last left off, Fitz told Mellie he wanted a divorce and Edison proposed to Olivia. ABC released a full description on the upcoming episode, saying that after discovering the truth about the schemed White House election results, "the Gladiators in Suits" realize that Olivia may not be innocent in the matter. Meanwhile, Mellie takes extreme measures to try to keep Fitz for herself.

Olivia may hit an emotional rock bottom as she appears to be ridden with guilt over Fitz's decision to divorce his wife. However, her associates seem to have found out the truth, with both Cyrus and David Rosen meddling in business affairs.

Mellie is in the hospital and while facing marital issues, it appears she could suffer a miscarriage. While such a situation would be very sad, it's indeed a possibility, due to her failed marriage and ongoing stress as the first lady.

However, Mellie she could very well be using the hospice scare in order to garner attention from Fitz, according to Buddy TV.

Also, Fitz and Olivia let each other know about each of their respective proposals (divorce and marriage). Fitz seemingly has the illusion that he can work things out to be with Olivia. With Langston no longer in charge and Fitz returning to the Oval Office, Hollis can no longer be the president's right hand man, doing everything to his benefit.

The latest episode of Scandal will air Thursday, Jan. 31 at 10 p.m. EST on ABC.
