Super Bowl Ads: Volkswagen 'Get Happy,' Amy Poehler's Best Buy, Taco Bell, Doritos and More
Coming in at nearly $4 million per ad, snagging a coveted 30-second slot during the Super Bowl clearly has its marketing advantages. But for the millions of viewers at home who watched the big game on Feb. 3, very little thought went into how much the actual ads themselves cost, but rather on how well that money was spent.
Here's a look at some of this year's Super Bowl commercials:
Volkswagen - "Get Happy"
Initial questions were raised on whether the ad was racist for featuring non-white actors speaking with a Jamaican accent. The View's Whoopi Goldberg didn't seem bothered by the ad, which spreads a universal message of turning a negative into a positive situation.
Doritos - "Fashionista Daddy"
Most fathers would never dare to put on a gown, make-up and other princess-like accessories for their own little princesses. But for one father, the promise of a certain popular nacho cheese tortilla chip made the experience tempting enough for both him and a few of his friends.
Taco Bell - "Viva Young"
When a few residents of The Glencobrooke Retirement Home decide to sneak out for a night of fun and laughs, they forgot all about shuffleboard and bingo and opted for drunken orgies and tattoos across their backs instead. Proving that at any age, a good time to the fullest extent can be had by all.
Amy Poehler - "Best Buy"
Who better than comedian/actress Poehler to give advice on all things tech-related at Best Buy?
