'The Walking Dead' Season 6 Spoilers: Will Maggie Take Glenn's Place As Negan's Target When Show Returns? [PHOTO]
WARNING: POTENTIAL SPOILERS AHEAD
Fans were able to breathe a sigh of relief when they learned fan favorite character Glenn Rhee (Steven Yuen) beat the odds once again and survived an attack by a zombie horde on the recent season of The Walking Dead, but they may be left in tears for him after Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) makes his official appearance on the show in the second half.
What Do Sam's Actions Implicate For Future Episodes?
Faithful fans of the comic series know Negan is the most infamous villain of all, who uses his studded baseball bat (named Lucille) to beat Glenn to death. However, after Glenn's recent survival when a suicidal Nicholas shot himself and tumbled on top of Glenn, off a dumpster and into a horde of zombies, fans have assumed it would mean he wouldn't meet the exact fate he had in the comics, since Negan is coming so soon afterwards. However, the potential replacement who will meet the fate that was reserved for him may be even more heartbreaking.
Lauren Cohan, who portrays Glenn's wife Maggie Green on the show, recently debuted a brand new pixie haircut, which is making some wonder if her change in style is a sign she won't be a part of the series anymore after the sixth season--meaning she could be the one who is clubbed by Lucille.
Walkers Officially Breach Alexandria's Walls
According to Vanity Fair, both Maggie and Glenn did cut their hair together in a part of the comic as a means of coping with their new lives, which could be the reason for the drastic trim--especially since Maggie, who is pregnant on the show and doesn't yet know for sure that Glenn is, in fact, alive, would probably need a coping mechanism should she escape from the now overrun Alexandria.
But, as the magazine points out, after the show's mid-season finale, showrunner Scott Gimple hinted at an upcoming confrontation between Rick's group and Negan's, who are known as the saviors, and said that some things would be the same as the comic book story--but others would be drastically different.
"For people who aren't familiar with [the Saviors] I don't want to say much. Though I do believe you should read the comics, if you haven't yet you're going to--I hope--have some exciting and fun discovery as the layers are peeled away on that mystery," he said. "And if you have read the comics, there are a lot of moments directly out of the book when it comes to the Saviors. And then some really cool expansions of the comic story. And some hard left turns from the comic story that do eventually wind up with a lot of very familiar small scenes from the book and big scenes from the book."
