Emma (Jennifer Morrison) will lead the journey into the underworld when ABC's Once Upon a Time returns next spring, but it certainly won't be an easy one.

With Hook (Colin O'Donoghue) banished to the underworld after being killed in the midseason finale of Once Upon a Time, Emma is on a mission to bring him back to life.

For Emma, this journey will have a multitude of complications, especially with finding Hook fast enough before others.

How Powerful Is Rumple On 'Once Upon a Time' After The Events Of The Winter Finale?

"It's going to be a bunch of things," Once Upon a Time co-creator Edward Kitsis told The Hollywood Reporter in a recent report. "It's not just about finding Hook, it's about what happens when Emma and all of our characters enter this realm and have to face things both from their past and present. It will hopefully be an exploration of our characters and how they react to facing things you never thought you were going to face."

Kitsis did stress that it won't be an easy journey for Emma: "It never is! But the best intentions. The road to hell is paved with the best intentions."

As for whether Emma will ultimately find true love, through Hook or anyone, Kitsis suggested that she will fight for it, no matter what.

"I think that is going to have to be a question she has to solve. The reason she is going down there is for that very reason. She finally lowered that wall and let Hook in, so she doesn't want to lose another person who she loves," he teased. "So echoing her father's line, 'I will always find you,' and I think come hell or high water, she's gonna try."

Once Upon a Time returns for the second half of season 5 on Sunday, March 6 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.
