Their battling philosophies about life led them to a major conflict when they were locked in a basement together as Alexandria became overrun with Walkers, but the drama with Carol (Melissa McBride) and Morgan (Lennie James) is far from over on The Walking Dead.

Is Lauren Cohan's Haircut A Sign About Maggie's Fate?

Though the two duked it out in the show's mid-season finale, neither one was particularly successful at proving their point about whether or not a Wolf captured by Morgan deserved to live or die. After Morgan seemed to knock Carol out, the Wolf then did the same to him, and grabbed Denise (Merritt Weaver) as a hostage and forced her out into the sea of Walker ahead of him.

Now, according to Robert Kirkman (via Cinema Blend), the dynamic between the two will only continue to evolve--until they get to another heated point that may actually bring things to an ultimate conclusion.

What Do Sam's Actions Implicate For 2016 Episodes?

"The next half of season 6, Morgan and Carol, their continuing antagonistic relationship and their posturing against each other and trying to figure each other out and not really liking each other, their conflict is a big part of the next half of the season," Kirkman said. "The confrontation that starts in that basement does continue through the season and will come to a head. We'll see the relationship changing and evolving and growing in cool and interesting ways."

Their differing philosophies could truly cause a major problem in the new season indeed, as the group is faced with an even bigger and newer threat than the Wolves could ever hope to be: Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) and his Saviors.

The Walking Dead returns Sunday, Feb. 14 at 9 p.m. on AMC.
