The popular hit series CW's The Vampire Diaries will return with an all-new episode on Thursday, as the group begins a vigorous hunt for the cure, departing from Mystic Falls to the coast of Nova Scotia for what looks to be an exciting episode 13 of Season four, titled Into The Wild.

TV Line reports that Damon (Ian Somerhalder), who is clearly determined to find the magical potion for Elena (Nina Dobrev), may find himself at a dead end.

One of the show's promotional posters rolled out this month featured the following slogan:

"Give him enough rope...," and "he'll hang himself to save the girl he loves?!"

Hence, the older Salvatore is so head over heels in love with Elena that although he doesn't want her partaking in the cure, he's motivated to get it simply because "it's really what she wants," Somerhalder told the site.

"At the end of the day, Damon does not want to take the cure, nor would he in a million years want Elena to take it. He's thinking, 'Why would I want to do this? Why would I want to become a normal, boring human being susceptible to everything?' It's just not in his wheelhouse to have that thought... It really is a tragic [thing]," he added.

Somerholder was quick to acknowledge his character's defects while also speaking on Damon's resiliency.

"You want this character - even though he does really awful things - you want him to win. You want him to be happy in life... There's something big in the cards for Damon soon."

The latest installment of the program will feature the group in an unorthodox environment, as they'll be outside of their usual environment, instead on a bright sunny beach.

The Vampire Diaries will be airing on Thursday, Feb. 6 at 8 pm EST on the CW network.
