'Agents Of SHIELD' Season 3: Midseason Premiere Will 'Blow Some Minds', Clark Gregg Talks Coulson's New Threat [VIDEO]
Ward is gone, but his death will allow for a brand new entirety to wreck havoc on the Agents of SHIELD.
Coulson's (Clark Gregg) decision to include Ward (Brett Dalton) on his team left a bloody trail of bodies and betrayal scattered across two and half seasons. Now that the turncoat is no more, Coulson thinks he can rest easy. What he doesn't know, however, is that his foe's body has become host to one of the universes' most dangerous Inhumans.
"One of the coolest things that I've seen come across a script is what this thing is that is now inhabiting the body of Grant Ward and how that connects to the beginnings of Hydra," Gregg informed IGN (via Screen Rant). "That's gonna blow some minds."
'Agents Of SHIELD' Season 3: 'Astonishing Moment' Coming, When Will Coulson Meet The New Ward?
As we prepare to dig into Hydra's millennia old origins, Dalton has assured fans that Grant Ward, former SHIELD agent and self proclaimed Director of Hydra, is well and truly dead.
"In many ways this is probably the hardest iteration of this character because we aren't dealing with a 'human being' anymore," Dalton teased. "This is Ward 2.0. This is a human being plus something else, this is a human body being occupied by a creature that's been around for centuries."
Fans can mull over the ramifications of "Maveth" as they wait for Agents of SHIELD to return on March 8 at 9 p.m. ET on ABC.
