Castiel (Misha Collins) appeared in five of season 11's first nine episodes, but for many fans, the fall run seemed a little light on the Winchester's wingman. Collins' character didn't make it into the super-packed midseason finale, but viewers should look forward to Cas' return this January.
With Sam (Jared Padalecki) locked up with Lucifer (Mark Pellegrino), Rowena (Ruth Connell) on the loose, and the Darkness' fate unknown, the hunters could certainly use an extra hand. Co-executive producer teased Castiel's involvement with "The Devil in The Details" while fielding a question regarding a possible winter hiatus time jump.

"[Episode 11 picks up] Pretty much right where we left off," Michaels teased. "Look for an Angel on that day too..."
While Michaels could be referring to anyone from Lucifer to Unnamed Angel No. 3, it's safe to assume he is talking about Castiel.
The CW has yet to release an episode summary for the midseason premiere, and Supernatural's latest promo served more as an amusing hiatus-buster than anything else. Fans will have to tune in on Jan. 27 to find out more.
