Another year is coming to a close, and as all four of the daytime soaps prepare to unveil a whole new host of stories in 2016, the stories which shocked and stunned fans in 2015 are still fresh in fans minds as they serve as undercurrents to drama still playing out on-screen.

All four soaps-CBS' The Young and the Restless and The Bold and the Beautiful, ABC's General Hospital and NBC's Days of Our Lives-brought some of their biggest storylines to the table this year as legacy characters both left and returned on each show, behind-the-scenes drama affected major casting announcements and milestones were celebrated. As we countdown to the New Year, Enstars looked back at all four shows and came up with our 10 favorite storylines that we watched unfold.

A Serial Killer Stalks Salem On Days of Our Lives

Days of Our Lives made sure to pull out all the stops for its big 50th anniversary, and one storyline which certainly brought the drama to Salem involved a serial killer known as the Necktie Killer stalking Salem and killing victims with connection to Chad DiMera (Billy Flynn). The storyline has since wrapped with the reveal that Ben (Robert Scott Wilson) was behind the crimes and everyone learning the truth, but legacy character Will Horton (Guy Wilson) was unfortunately a casualty before it was over.

'Fluke' Is Finally Revealed On General Hospital

Fans had been waiting for over a year to find out who was impersonating Luke Spencer (Anthony Geary) and running the Jerome crime business, but eventually, the truth came out and Luke was revealed to be suffering from a split personality which surfaced because of his guilt over killing both his parents as a teen. He finally seemed to recover from the ordeal, but was quickly sucked back into a dangerous world when Laura (Genie Francis) came back to town and the two raced to save Lucky and Ethan from a resurrected Frank Smith. Not long after, Luke bid his goodbyes to Port Charles.

Jake Finally Learns His Real Identity on General Hospital

Another infuriatingly long process in Port Charles came with everyone learning that Jake Doe (Billy Miller) was really Jason Morgan back from the dead. For months no one in Port Charles had a clue except for Nikolas (Tyler Christopher)--and eventually, Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst). The two continually schemed to keep the truth a secret after the Nurses' Ball, but Jake's curiosity and determination to learn who he was finally exposed the truth on what was supposed to be his wedding day to Elizabeth. Within a month the rest of the truth was exposed as well, and the fallout is only starting to begin.

Jack's Doppelganger Marco Causes Trouble On The Young and the Restless

Jack being kidnapped away from Genoa City went unnoticed when a shocking doppelganger, Marco (Peter Bergman in a dual role) showed up in town and assumed Jack's life. Unfortunately for Jack, Marco caused a lot of trouble in Genoa City as well, possibly causing damage it will be impossible for Jack to truly repair.

Abigail's Baby Daddy Drama On Days of Our Lives

Though she was happy with Ben, Abigail (Kate Mansi) couldn't resist the pull to her ex, Chad. And not long after she gave in and slept with him, she learned she was pregnant. Thanks to some maneuvering on Clyde's (James Read) part, Ben was revealed as the biological father as her child-though no one knows the results were fixed. However, learning he was the father of the baby couldn't erase Ben's concerns about Chad from his mind, and he reacted by becoming the serial killer in a failed attempt to set Chad up for the crimes and get him out of Abigail's life for good.

Maya Is Revealed As Transgender On The Bold and the Beautiful

Fans were floored when Maya (Karla Mosley) was revealed to have actually been born as Myron and was actually transgender. After her scheming to get the life she wanted with Rick (Jacob Young), learning that she actually had a huge secret made her seem more human to fans-and the struggles she faced as she fought for acceptance from not only the public and the man she loved, but her disapproving parents Vivienne and Julius (Anna Marie Horsford and Obba Babbatunde) gave the soap a chance to tell some new stories and introduce a whole new group of characters.

Hilary Forgets Her Past With Devon On The Young and the Restless

Despite the backstory concerning her cheating on Neil (Kristoff St. John) with Devon (Bryton James) Hilary (Mishael Morgan) seemed happy. But once she went missing on her honeymoon and lost all memories of her love for Devon-and began believing she was still in love with Neil, all the drama his a new level between the three.

Aly's Shocking Death On The Bold and the Beautiful

Legacy characters being killed off is always shocking on soap operas, especially when there is no warning the death is coming-like what happened with young Aly Forrester (Ashlyn Pearce) over the summer. After she once again succumbed to her erratic behavior and psychosis that emerged from tragically losing her mother as a child, she tried to kill her cousin Steffy (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) on the PCH in the same place Steffy's mother killed hers. Unfortunately, after Steffy swung back in self-defense, Aly fell and hit her head on a rock, dying instantly.

Silas Is Murdered On General Hospital

Though he wasn't a legacy character, Silas Clay (Michael Easton) was a fan favorite and he didn't seem to have too many enemies in Port Charles. But that didn't stop him from being murdered suddenly in his own home when he was literally stabbed in the back. Fans were heartbroken that the doctor who helped cure Danny's cancer was suddenly snatched away.

Ava Goes Missing & Reemerges As Denise DeMuccio On General Hospital

After she appeared to die from a combined gunshot wound and falling off of a bridge into the river below, Ava (Maura West) was revealed to be alive and secretly in Silas' care in New York City. But the good news about her recovery didn't last long because she was dying of cancer. She then appeared to die, leaving Port Charles without yet another member of the mob. But when a dark-haired doppelganger with a Brooklyn accent named Denise DeMuccio showed up in town claiming to be her long-lost twin sister, trouble started. And after Silas was murdered not long after he caught her in bed with Morgan (Bryan Craig) and threatened to tell Kiki (Hayley Erin), the truth came out-Ava never died, and came back to town posing as Denise to be close to her daughters without having to serve time for her past crimes.
