This is a list for all those characters that we loved - or loved to hate - and who met their tragic demise in 2015. Join us in saying goodbye to heroes from The Flash to Agents of SHIELD.

Eddie Thawne - The Flash

Eobard Thawne (Rick Cosnett) was convinced that his ancestor would amount to nothing, but he didn't realize that his meddling would cause the detective to become a hero in his own right. Eddie sacrificed his life to rid Central City of the Reverse Flash (Tom Cavanagh/Matt Letscher), and while his presence is sorely missed, we're glad he managed to wipe Eobard from the history books.

Although he may not have done as amazing of a job as we originally thought. The Reverse Flash is poised to make a season 2 comeback in episode 11.

Charlie - Supernatural

In a season riddled with devastating twists, Charlie's (Felicia Day) brutal death was far and away one of the most painful. One part Sam's (Jared Padalecki) fault, one part Charlie's, Day's character bit the dust when she managed to slip away from Castiel's (Misha Collins) protection while deciphering the codex. She never would have been in danger, however, if Sam hadn't insisted she take on the dangerous task in the first place.

Grant Ward - Agents of SHIELD

After two and a half seasons, the turncoat agent got his comeuppance. Following his ill-advised murder of Rosalind (Constance Zimmer), Ward (Brett Dalton) met his end at the prosthetic hand of Coulson (Clark Gregg). Dalton will continue on with the series, however. Ward's body is now the vehicle for the Maveth Inhuman.

Clara Oswald - Doctor Who

After traveling space and time with the Doctor (Peter Capaldi), dodging death from Earth to Akhaten, and educating notoriously rambunctious teens, Clara (Jenna Louis Coleman) met her end via the Quantum Shade. Time to bring in the next companion.

Derek Sheppard - Grey's Anatomy

After 11 seasons on the medical soap, McDreamy left Seattle Grace in a hospital bag. A car accident left him on life support, and Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) had to pull the plug when he was declared brain dead.

Honorable Mention

About 80 percent of the cast of Scream Queens, half your favorite characters on Game of Thrones, 99.9 percent of The 100's Mountain Men, and a hefty chunk of the Fargo roster.
