Salem's residents have only just begun to heal and get over from some devastating losses in the last few months, but the New Year could kick off with a fresh new wave of heartache on Days of Our Lives.

Fans have known for months that Daniel (Shawn Christian) would be making an eit around this time of year following Christian's decision not to renew his contract with the show. Not long after, it was revealed the character would be exiting the show-and it would be a permanent exit with a death not related to the serial killer storyline that dominated a large portion of the 50th anniversary celebration. And now, after Salem has mourned its first major holiday following the deaths of so many beloved characters-including Paige, Will and Bo-the town is ready to move on. But New Year's Eve will bring more destruction than before.

According to the weekly spoilers, an accident on New Year's Eve will occur that will forever change so many lives-and according to a preview, it seems to involve Jennifer (Melissa Reeves). It seems like a car accident as well-meaning Daniel could be in the other car.

In addition, other reports hint that Daniel's mother, Maggie (Suzanna Rogers) will have to make a difficult decision which affects two of her loved ones she holds so dear. It is unclear what the decision will actually pertain to, but if it is related to the apparent car accident, and Daniel does pass on, Maggie may be left to decide if her recently deceased son will help possibly save Jennifer's life if she needs any new organs in order to survive.

Days of Our Lives airs Monday-Friday at 1 p.m. on NBC.
