Slater and Grier were teamed up on the latest season of Dancing With the Stars, and while they came in eighth place, they lasted long enough to build a strong relationship.
Speaking with Niagara Gazette while on tour with Dancing With the Stars Live!, Slater spoke on how her partnership with Grier was an "eye-opening" experience - especially compared to previous partners of hers like Bill Engvall.
Was Mark Ballas Truly Surprised By His 'DWTS' Elimination?
"The age does not matter as much as the retention. Working with Hayes (Grier) was a real eye-opener," she said. "He had so much enthusiasm and youth, and was able to retain things quickly so we were able to refine our routines. With the older gentlemen I found they had more confidence, Bill Engvall had no problem putting himself out there, which was a bit more of a struggle for Hayes."
Another noteworthy partner Slater worked with previously was Billy Dee Williams, who played Lando Calrissian in the original Star Wars franchise. Slater spoke about catching up with Williams and her fellow Dancing With the Stars pro Artem Chigvintsev now that the new Star Wars film has swept the nation.
"I have not seen (the new Star Wars movie) yet but Artem (Chigvintsev) has seen it and he told me it is really good. I have seen all of the other Star Wars movies and I am a fan. I'll definitely have to catch up with Billy Dee Williams over the holiday when I am back in L.A. to see what he thinks," Slater said.
It remains to be seen if Slater will return for the upcoming season of Dancing With the Stars.
Dancing With the Stars returns for season 22 on Monday, March 21 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.
