There seemed to be some confusion as to why Emma (Brooklyn Rae Silzer) would be staying in Port Charles while her parents left the show, but now it has been confirmed that the young character is exiting with Patrick (Jason Thompson) and Robin (Kimberly McCullogh) on General Hospital.

It was originally reported that while Emma's happily reunited parents were going to leave town, she was going to stay behind with her grandmother, Anna (Finola Hughes)--though it has now been confirmed that the character is leaving, though not on a permanent basis.

According to reports, after Patrick and Robin leave, they are taking Emma with them, though the character will likely return for summer breaks from school and for other possible occasions. However. there are concerns from fans that the talented Silzer, who is just nine years old, could be out of the role.

Sam and Jason Reconnect On New Year's Eve

Character exits are usually a good way for soaps to SORAS children into older teens and young adults, allowing them to be brought more into the adult framework and give them meatier and juicier storylines. Though the other children around Emma's age on the show, including Spencer Cassadine (Nicholas Bechtel), Jake Morgan/Spencer (James Nigbor) and Cameron Spencer (Michael Leone) are still on the scene at the ages they have portrayed for a while now, Josslyn Jacks, who was previously portrayed by Hannah Nordberg has been replace by Eden McCoy, who is older.

With Josslyn, who is actually one year younger than Emma on the show's timeline now reappearing on the scene as a teenager, it could mean that Silzer's exit will allow for the show to SORAS the Emma character, making her also a teen when she arrives back in town. It could also mean that Bechtel, Nigbor and Leone will also be written out in favor of older versions of their characters as well.

There has been no confirmation on whether the child actors are all being written out.
