Morrison recently spoke with Entertainment Weekly about the complex Emma-Regina relationship on the series. Morrison observed how important it is to show a female bond in such a way where they're not always fighting over things and getting jealous of each other.
"The one thing I always say is that we've got to be good to each other," Morrison said. "When you have examples of a friendship like that on television, that's a good thing to be putting in front of people, because it is exactly what we need. We need women building each other up, supporting each other and being there for each other, even when we have made mistakes, and even when we have had falling outs at times. I think that's an important for the time that we're in."

The actress also discussed one of the newer plot lines on the series which is Emma becoming a Dark One. Considering Regina's dark past, she ultimately found empathy for Emma. And Morrison praised the dynamic between the pair and how Regina still believes in Emma's capacity for good.
"Regina, because she was really dark in the past, understands what Emma's going through," Morrison said. "She's one of the people that, even though she challenged her at times while she was the Dark One, she didn't stop believing that Emma could be good and didn't stop believing that Emma wouldn't someday once again be the person she knew she was."
It stands to reason that Emma and Regina will continue to be an undeniably powerful force in the second half of the season, as they try to bring Hook (Colin O'Donoghue) back from the Underworld.
Once Upon a Time returns for the second half of season 5 on Sunday, March 6 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.
