The revival of Australian Survivor is expected to begin filming in March and now there is new information on a potential location.

Network Ten in Australia announced back in November that they were reviving their version of Survivor for 2016. Now there is a new report via news.com.au that the season will be filmed in a familiar location to U.S. Survivor fans - the coast of Malaysia.

This is where the very first U.S. Survivor season was filmed in the year 2000. The Malaysian location has not yet been officially confirmed by Network Ten.

However, Beverley McGarvey, Network Ten's chief programming officer, did say that they were most likely to film the season in a location previously used.

"We'll end up collecting an island location - most likely a location that has had a series of Survivor shot there before," she said. "Just because bringing that expertise to the table is really critical."

Also, U.S. Survivor producers are said to be involved in the production of the upcoming Australian season.

"They're really involved," McGarvey said. "We think the purity of the concept is something that will really resonate with Australian audiences."

Australian Survivor had previously aired a season in 2002. The country then conduced a Celebrity Survivor in 2006. This is the first attempt at bringing the series back to Australia since then.

Survivor: Blood vs. Water winner Tyson Apostol has notably been campaigning to become the host of Australian Survivor, frequently mentioning it on his podcast, News AF. A change.org petition was created to help Apostol's campaign.
