Katie Couric can't sleep over mysterious 9-1-1 calls being made from her husband's phone.

New York City police said Thursday they have been called to Couric's Manhattan home several times recently because of 9-1-1 calls traced to a phone listed there, according to The Associated Press. The 9-1-1 operator only heard static but police are required to treat each call as an emergency.

The calls happen on Tuesdays at 2 a.m., Couric told an audience at her talk show's taping this week, and were placed from a line in Couric's apartment that belongs to her husband Jay Monahan.

"It's happened like three times the last three weeks," Couric reportedly told the audience during a break in taping her talk show Katie. "Every day, every time at 2 a.m. on Tuesday morning. I was out of town the last time it happened and apparently it happened before when nobody was home."

Every Tuesday at 2 a.m., Monahan's phone dials 9-1-1, according to the news report. Each time, a police officer near her Park Avenue home was been forced to respond. The calls occurred at least 10 time since last month and are under investigation, police said.

An audience member at Couric's show told the New York Daily News the talk show host was so scared about the calls that she contacted New York Police Commissioner Ray Kelly for help.

"So I called Ray Kelly, who I know just through the years seeing at different things. 'Ray, this is so weird but can you help me? I don't know what to do,' " Couric said, according to a member of show's audience.

Police said they are investigating whether something is wrong with her phone or if Couric is the victim of a telephone spoof. The calls first were reported in a Daily News article with the headline, "Katie's 911 Hell."
